Bump Residence

When minimalist, design loving clients came to us asking to make the kitchen in their traditional home larger and up to date, there was one thing we could do: Bump it out. We created a contemporary cube bumping outside of the traditional home elevation, to show a clear distinction between what is old and what is new. The bump is made up of white washed cedar and steel, with extra large windows to create lightness within the space. The kitchen is all blizzard white (white formica laminate cabinets with white concrete countertops) and concealed, with the color pop of turquoise and white clean tile. One thing led to another and we completed a master bedroom and bath renovation in the upstairs bonus room—here we added massive skylights to make a special bathing experience with custom cabinetry and slat work throughout the bedroom.
